Advance tickets available for Freedom Fest fundraiser

Colossal Radio’s Freedom Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Orioles, 475 Orioles Dr., Lehighton.

Freedom Fest will feature a Jeep & Bronco Show, complete with prizes and trophies, said co-organizer Layne “Doc” Roberts, owner of Colossal Radio.

In addition, Roberts said there will be plenty of entertainment in the form of Blues, Country, and Rock ‘n’ Roll.

He said the All American Music Lineup includes Big Bone Daddy, Psych, South Penn Dixie, and High Noon.

Roberts said there will be All American food and drink by The Hofford Mill/The Gorge Eatery for purchase.

“It will benefit local police departments, local fire departments, and veterans,” Roberts said. “We want to make a difference, give back.”

Roberts said he anticipates the event will be among the largest ever seen in Lehighton.

He then thanked the event’s sponsors, including Lehighton Ford, Mauch Chunk Trust Company, Pamela Gothard, with ReMax Real Estate, Crystal Spring Tree Farm, 4U Homes, Mystic Mountaintop Productions, as well as the Orioles.

Previously Jeep Fest, the event had been held the past two years at The Hofford Mill in Weissport.

“We wanted it to be more inclusive,” Roberts said as to why Freedom Fest will be held this year at the Orioles.

Roberts said more than 100 jeeps participated in last year’s Jeep Fest, which raised more than $5,000.

Proceeds from that event went to the Lehighton Fire Department, as well as veterans from the Valor Clinic. The rest of the proceeds raised from the event went to the Jim Thorpe Police Department, which received an e-bike donated by Bronson EBikes & Trikes Inc. in Weissport, and Colossal Radio in Palmerton.

The first Jeep Fest had 110 jeeps participate, and raised $2,600 to benefit veterans and volunteers.

Discount tickets are available until June 30.
