Two Carbon businesses violate state liquor laws

Two Carbon County businesses have been cited by the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, Wilkes-Barre office, for violating state liquor laws. They are:

• Caribbean Breeze, Lehighton, was cited for six violations on March 16 and April 13. On March 16, the business furnished alcohol for consumption off its premises; permitted patrons to remove alcoholic beverages from the part of its premises used for service of alcoholic beverages; furnished alcoholic beverages between 2-7 a.m.; sold alcoholic beverages without authority; permitted smoking and failed to post signs as required by the Clean Indoor Air Act.

Police said the latter three offenses also took place on April 13.

• The Covered Bridge Inn, Palmerton, was cited for permitting a loudspeaker or similar device with the sound of music or other entertainment exceeding 75 decibels beyond the licensee’s property between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and/or between 10 a.m. and midnight Friday and/or Saturday. The offense took place on May 19, police said.

In both cases, the charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50-1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the licenses based on the severity of the charges brought, and can also mandate training.
