Northern Lehigh School Board on Monday approved a pair of transportation contracts.
The board unanimously agreed to enter into a revised contract for transportation services between Krise Transportation Inc. and the district.
Also on Monday, the board agreed to enter into a five-year agreement with Bus Patrol at a cost not to exceed $20,000, to be funded through the 2024-2025 transportation budget.
After the meeting, Superintendent Matthew Link said he was pleased that the school board approved both the revised contract with Krise Transportation extending the partnership through June 2029, and that it also partnered with BusPatrol.
“The arrangement with BusPatrol will increase safety on and around our buses when they are dropping off and picking up students,” Link said. “When individuals violate the traffic laws by passing a bus when it has its flashing lights on and the stop sign out, they put our students in danger.
“This will assist our district police department and transportation company in holding those individuals accountable. As word gets out about this new technology on our buses, we hope to see a decrease in those breaking the law.”
