Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kim will lead the 10:30 a.m. service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley by observing Father’s Day and honoring our Heavenly Father. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. Special music will be provided by the ladies for the men.
There will be no evening service.
There will be no June 19 prayer meeting, because the Auburn Camp is being held June 21-30, and the church encourages attending the camp services.
St. Peter’s - West Penn
A Father’s Day service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Church, West Penn. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.
On June 23, there will be a church board meeting at 10:30 a.m.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on June 6 with 25 members in attendance.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “God is Good.” Three members were added to the sick list. One member donated cake, and two members donated napkins.
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Senior Farmers Market program will once again make vouchers available to eligible older adults. They will be available at a number of locations, including Tuesdays and Thursdays through July 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mahanoy City Community Center, 138 W. Center St.; June 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the West Penn Township building, 27 Municipal Road, New Ringgold; and July 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Zukovich’s Farm, 432 Fairview St., Tamaqua. More information on the vouchers, including proxy forms for those who cannot attend the distributions, are available from state Rep. Jamie Barton’s office on East Broad Street in Tamaqua.
Bingo and cards were played. The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on June 11 with 39 members present.
President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the invocation, “The World Watches Over Us.”
Four members are celebrating birthdays in June, and one couple is celebrating an anniversary.
One lucky member won a beach bag and blanket that was chanced off.
The Pa. Farmers Market food vouchers will be available for pickup at a number of locations, including Zuckovich’s Farm Market on July 31.
Bingo was played and the meeting closed. The next meeting will be held June 25. The group wished all a happy Father’s Day. The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at Christ Church, Barnesville.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.
Vacation Bible School will be held July 8-12 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle from 6 to 8:15 p.m. each evening.
Tamaqua Library
The Tamaqua Public Library will host a Kids’ Karnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The day will feature outdoor games, food, and a Pa. One book giveaway. The Karnival will be held rain or shine at the library.
This summer’s free reading program, Adventure Begins at Your Library, starts on June 17 and runs through Aug. 8. It’s open to those in babyhood through the teenage years. The young children’s’ program is geared to kids up to age 5. It will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The children’s’ program is for youngsters age 6 to 8, and meets from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays. The older children’s program, for ages 9 to 12, meets from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays. The teenage program meets from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays.
On July 1, the Tamaqua Public Library will hold a Stuffie workshop. The event begins at 5 p.m. Registration is required as spots are limited. Pre-order your Stuffie for $25.
The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
