Tonight at 6:30 p.m., the Polk Township Planning Commission is slated to meet at the township administrative building.

Monroe Seniors

The West End group of Monroe County Seniors is meeting today at Zion Lutheran Church and again on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m.

Legion Auxiliary

American Legion Auxiliary Post 927, Gilbert, will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Legion home.

Polk Township meeting

The Polk Township Board of Supervisors will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday.

The Veterans Memorial commission meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Garden help

Our Lady Queen of Peace will be helping at the Garden of Giving tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Attending helpers are reminded to bring a bagged lunch.

ID theft seminar

Rep. Jack Rader invites his constituents to come to an Identity Theft Seminar at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Tunkhannock Township Municipal building at 1557 Long Pond Road. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The speaker will be David Shallcross, director of Senior Protection at the Pennsylvania office of the Attorney General.

Eldred Planners

The Eldred Planning Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the municipal building, 490 Kunkletown Road. Meetings are being held virtually and in person.

PV Pre-K registration

Pre-K preregistration is now underway. Doing so via the web will keep families “informed of events and registration for their Pre-K child throughout this year.”

Car show held

St. Matthew’s CIA has announced its annual car show for Father’s Day, June 16, rain or shine.

It begins with breakfast sandwiches at 8 a.m., worship at 10 a.m., entertainment by the Brian Dean Moore Band from noon to 2 p.m., trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m., and the Cramer Brothers Band from 3 to 5 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., a variety of foods will be available for purchase.

Top 25 trophies by participants choice will be awarded, as well as 100 dash plaques. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and activities for children starting at 1 p.m. DJ Eazy E! will also be there.

Legion bingo time

The American Legion in Gilbert is hosting bingo night on Monday. It is an open to the community event.

Doors open for ticket sales at 6:30 p.m. Play time begins at 7 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Volunteers sought

The PVE PTO is asking people to sign up for volunteering at the funnel cake stand for those needing to fulfill their volunteer hours for incoming class seniors. Sign up on the web.

VALOR meeting

The VALOR PTSD support meeting at the American Legion Post 927 is set for 7 p.m. Thursday.

Eldred Supervisors

The Eldred Township Board of Supervisors is slated to meet at 7 p.m. next Wednesday.

QV camps

Upcoming camps at Quiet Valley, Monroe County’s Living Historical Farm include Living History Camp 1820s, June 24-28; Farm Explorers, July 8-12; and Nature Explorers, July 15-19.

Ross Twp. Fishing

On July 13 and 14, at Evergreen Park, the 2024 Ross Township Fishing Tournament will take place.

It is sponsored by the Ross Township Police Department, Ross Township Parks and Recreation, and many volunteers.

The next meeting of the West End Republican Club will be held at 7 p.m. June 25 at Cherry’s Family Restaurant on Interchange Road in Kresgeville.

If you plan to attend and have dinner before the meeting starts or just socialize, then you should arrive an hour earlier.

The next meeting of the Chestnuthill Township Supervisors will be 7 p.m., July 2.
