PSP Frackville - crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Police said a motorcyclist fled the scene of a crash at 8:24 p.m. May 31 on Market Street in Ashland.

They said the cycle was westbound when the driver lost control, traveled toward the left side of the road and fell onto its side. It continued west and struck the front of a 1993 Camaro that was legally parked along the curb. They said the operator of the cycle regained control of it and left the scene.

• Abdi J. Barre, 57, of Columbus, Ohio, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:06 a.m. May 28 on the Interstate 81 connector in Kline Township.

Police said he refused treatment and was not transported from the scene.

The incident occurred when he was driving a 2017 Freightliner eastbound at a speed greater than reasonable.

They said the driver under-compensated while rounding a right curve and the semitrailer portion of the rig exited the north side of the road, causing the rig to overturn after impacting a grass median. The rig was towed from the scene.

Police said Barre was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Police said a 2006 Freightliner that was backing up on Sewer Plant Road in Tamaqua struck a 2022 Toyota Tacoma before exiting the scene by traveling east on West Spruce Street.

It happened at 11:27 a.m. May 28. Police said the rig struck the front grill and bumper of the Tacoma. They said the driver briefly pulled off the left side of Sewer Plant Road before leaving the scene.

• Two vehicles were damaged in a crash at 5:19 p.m. May 29 on Route 309 in Hometown, Rush Township.

Police said a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette “rear-ended” a 2015 Jeep Renegade after the vehicles had slowed due to traffic.

The operator of the Corvette was cited for “following too closely,” police said.
