One person dies after W. Penn crash

Carbon County Coroner Mark Smith has released the name of the man killed in the crash in West Penn Township Monday night.

Alvin Willoughby, 38, of Saint Clair was killed Monday night in a head-on crash at 11:24 p.m. in front of 835 Penn Drive, Route 443.

The crash involved a car and sport utility vehicle.

Firefighters from West Penn and Mahoning Valley worked to extricate the injured from the wreckage.

Two medical transport helicopters were flown to the scene.

Willoughby was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital trauma center, Carbon campus, where he was pronounced dead just after 12:30 a.m., the Carbon County coroner’s office said.

West Penn Township police and the coroner’s office are investigating the incident.
