A nonferrous metal smelting and refining plant is slated for construction about a half-mile east of Lake Hauto.

The plant will be constructed on a 20-acre site by a firm from Canada which will form a U.S. subsidiary for the purpose.

Tonolli and Company of Canada, LTD, a member of Tonolli International, announced the purchase of the site that is located on the north side of the Nesquehoning Creek off Route 54.

Arrangements for the plant to locate in this area were made through a joint effort of John and Joseph Kovatch, owners of the land, the Carbon-Schuylkill Industrial Development Corporation, P.P. & L., the PA Chamber of Commerce and Carbon County officials.
