New Pocono Tavern offers taste of Philly
He’s a renowned chef with experience on the Philadelphia food circuit.
Now, Kevin Addis has brought his culinary talents to the area as the owner of the Pocono Tavern.
Formerly Pappy’s School House Tavern, at 4740 Long Run Road, Franklin Township, the Pocono Tavern has been open since May 8.
Addis said the business has about 10 employees, and added it has the capacity to seat about 50 people inside and another 30 outside.
“It’s a restaurant and bar that’s got a tavern feel to it,” Addis said. “It’s a really nice atmosphere.”
Addis, who said he’s been a chef for a long time, previously owned Entree BYOB in Philadelphia for nearly 11 years.
“We were looking to move out of the city, liked the area, liked the Poconos, and came across this one,” he said. “After doing my due diligence, I decided to go for it.”
Addis said Pocono Tavern is the kind of place where customers can stop in and enjoy sandwiches, such as the famous Philly cheesesteak, at the bar.
Or, he said, they can indulge in top quality, homemade foods, with entrees such as half-chicken, steak, seafood and fresh made pasta.
In addition, Addis said the restaurant offers a three-course menu complete with an appetizer, entree and dessert every day.
“We have a nice balanced menu,” he said. “Our food is the best you’re going to find in a 40-mile radius.”
Addis said specials include Wing Night on Wednesdays at a discounted rate.
“Our wings are top quality,” he said. “I’d like to think we have the best wings in town.”
Addis said they have live music from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays, and Karaoke on Saturday nights.
Pocono Tavern is open from 4 p.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.
