Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported crashes that happened on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Joslin R. Licata, 23, of West Pittstown, was involved in a crash that occurred at 3:01 p.m. May 27 at mile marker 82.2 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, for evaluation.
Police said the incident occurred when she was driving a 2015 Buick Verano northbound when it hydroplaned on the wet roadway. The car traveled across the left lane, struck the center concrete barrier, slid across both lanes and struck a guide rail. Police said the momentum of the vehicle caused it to travel back into the right lane where it was struck by a 2015 Ford F450 operated by Rebecca L. Lipka, 47, of Wyoming, PA. She and a passenger were not hurt, police said.
• Raymond R. Clark, 54, of Moorestown, New Jersey, was not injured in a crash at 7:43 a.m. June 2 at mile marker 96.9.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Mercedes-Benz northbound when it struck a deer that ran into his lane of travel.
The car had heavy damages and was towed from the scene. He was not injured.
• Jameen Warren-Thornton Jr., 24, of East Greensville, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:46 p.m. May 29 at mile marker 91.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu northbound during heavy rain conditions when the car spun out in the right lane and crashed into the guide rail.
Police said he was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
• Shaun M. Baker, 39, of Chesapeake, Virginia, was involved in a crash at 4:30 p.m. May 29 at mile marker 96.6.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram truck northbound during a heavy rainstorm when the truck hydroplaned, spun clockwise and struck a rock embankment on the right berm. It continued to spin, ricocheting back into the left lane before striking the center concrete barrier.
The truck had heavy damages and was towed from the scene.
Police said Baker was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
