Local Roundup: Results from June 5

Berlinsville posted a walk-off win Wednesday in Blue Mountain League action, while Palmerton recorded a victory in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play.

Northampton-Berlinsville

The Berlinsville Braves literally walked off with an 8-7 comeback victory against the Northampton Giants.

The Braves, who trailed 7-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning, scored five runs in the home fifth and pulled out the win with a pair of runs in the home seventh - the final one coming on a bases-loaded walk to Zach Day.

Day, who relieved in the sixth and picked up the victory, reached base four times with two hits and two walks. Sean Rivera added three hits and three RBIs, while Shane Fillman collected two doubles and an RBI.

The Braves, now 4-3, also received a pair of hits from Owen Ness, and a hit and a walk from Jim Thorpe graduate Noah Snisky.

Palmerton alum Luke Netznik was the starting pitcher for Berlinsville, tossing the first four frames.

For Northampton, which dropped to 1-7, Northwestern grads Nate Kester and Nick Henry both had big games. Kester had three hits, including a pair of home runs and three RBIs. Henry ended with three hits and knocked in a run.

Wilson-Palmerton

A quick start and a stellar pitching performance helped Palmerton post a 3-1 win over Wilson.

Gaige McGowan (double) and Jared Grammes (single) each delivered RBIs in the bottom of the first inning to give the Bombers (4-1) a 2-0 lead. Corey Serfass scored on an error in the bottom of the third inning. Greyson Ahner also had a hit for Palmerton.

Grammes (five innings, four strikeouts) and Mason Becker (two innings, two strikeouts) were solid on the mound. Grammes earned the win, while Becker collected the save.

Marco Azzolina had an RBI for Wilson (0-4) and collected two hits, while Owen Miller finished 2-for-3 with a run.

Franklin Township-Nazareth

Tyler Baker of Nazareth pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Nazareth to a 5-0 victory over Franklin Township.

Baker walked three and struck out five in six innings of work.

Chase Brown and Bennett Sanford both had a hit and RBI for the winners, who struck for three runs in the first inning.

The only hits collected by Franklin came from Cole Dietz and Hunter Kintz.

Nazareth improved to 5-1, while FT suffered its first loss and fell to 3-1.
