CCTI showcases technical skills to students

The Carbon Career and Technical Institute recently brought the world of career and technical education to life at Lehighton Area Elementary Center, igniting excitement and curiosity among students through a series of interactive experiences.

Approximately 160 fifth grade Lehighton students rotated through five stations where CCTI staff and students demonstrated some of the skills and activities involved in their technical areas.

The instructors, Hal Resh, auto service technology; Rick Stettler, electrical automation and distribution; Mike Garrant, engineering technology; Jeff Hazelton, carpentry, and Michelle Allen, principal, joined students Kieler Kemmerer; Eli Christman; Zane Zimmerman; Collen Bowman; Nico Bochicchio; Angelika Gines; Molly Kislan and Blake Jones for the promotional activity.

They showcased the diverse opportunities available in the trades, captivating young minds with hands-on activities and immersive demonstrations. The Lehighton students had the chance to engage directly with different technical areas, fostering a deeper understanding of potential career paths.

The enthusiastic response from students underscored the success of the initiative, as they actively participated and absorbed the valuable insights presented. This positive experience not only sparked interest but also provided students with a glimpse into the possibilities that await them beyond the classroom.

The event was a huge success and Administrative Director Dave Reinbold thanked Lehighton Area School District Superintendent Dr. Christina Fish, Principal Marc McGalla, Counselor Deb Lindh and Board Member Heather Neff for hosting and co-planning the activity.
