State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police said a sobriety checkpoint was conducted on roads in Carbon and Monroe counties from May 24-27.
As a result, seven drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
Police issued 38 citations and 15 written warnings for violations of the Motor Vehicle Code.
• A 40-year-old Allentown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop police made at 7:28 p.m. May 3 in the 1800 block of East Lizard Creek Road, East Penn Township.
He was stopped in a 2007 Toyota for numerous traffic violations.
• A 21-year-old Saylorsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 1:24 a.m. May 11 on Polk Township Road in Polk Township.
He was driving a 2008 Audi A4 when he was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.
• A 40-year-old Weatherly man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 2:50 a.m. May 11 in Susquehanna Street in Jim Thorpe.
He was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 when he was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.
• A 37-year-old Allentown woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 12:20 a.m. May 17 in Fifth Street in Coaldale.
She was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra when she was stopped for multiple Title 75 violations.
• A 35-year-old Jim Thorpe man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after police conducted a traffic stop at 11:44 p.m. May 17 on West Front Street in Jim Thorpe.
He was driving a 2015 Jeep Compass when he was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.
• A 58-year-old Palmerton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 12:19 a.m. May 19 on Hahn’s Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township.
He was driving a 2024 Mazda when he was stopped for a title violation.
• A 30-year-old Palmerton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police conducted a traffic stop at 2:30 a.m. May 19 in Mauch Chunk Road in Palmerton.
He was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 when he was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.
• A 17-year-old girl from Kresgeville is the victim of a harassment by communications report police received.
It was reported at 8:24 p.m. May 19 when the girl from Interchange Road, Towamensing Township, reported receiving unwanted phone calls from a school friend.
• A 57-year-old man from Bath is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 9:19 p.m. May 24 ion Alpha Road in Wind Gap.
He was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt when he was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.
• A 35-year-old Kresgeville woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop at 5:25 p.m. May 25 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
She was driving as 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt when she was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.
• Police said a 28-year-old Lehighton man is the victim of a burglary that happened between March 1 and April 17 at his residence on Thomas Jefferson Road in East Penn Township.
He told police someone entered the unoccupied residence and stole a firearm and a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.
• David Pieri, 67, of Jim Thorpe, was charged with simple harassment after police received a report from a 57-year-old woman from Jim Thorpe.
She went to the barracks on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township to report an assault that she said happened between Feb. 4-6.
• A 67-year-old Jim Thorpe man is facing a charge of harassment by physical contact.
Police said the victims are a 56-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both from Jim Thorpe, who reported the incident took place on Aug. 21 of last year.
