State Police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• Veronica L. Skoglund, 33, of Sciota, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 5:02 p.m. May 23 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. She was not injured.

Police said she was driving a 2017 Hyundai Tucson when she swerved to avoid another car. The vehicle struck a utility pole, causing major damages that required the car to be towed from the scene.

• A 17-year-old boy from Saylorsburg was cited after a crash at 4:03 p.m. May 23 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2011 Dodge Nitro south when he failed to stop in time striking the rear of a 2018 Nissan Kicks driven by Alnon DeMaria Outwater, 59, of Bethlehem. Police said she was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg. Police said the Nitro was able to be driven from the scene while the Nissan was towed from the scene.

• Romello I. Smaltz, 28, of Saylorsburg, was cited after police were called to a two-vehicle crash at 6:34 p.m. May 21 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2018 Nissan Titan operated by Kelly L. Henderson, 37, of Kunkletown. Police said both drivers and a passenger with Henderson, a girl toddler, were transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bartonsville, to be treated for possible injuries.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 2:28 p.m. May 21 on Golden Slipper Road in Jackson Township.

Police said it happened when Daniel F. Johnson, 61, of Walnutport, driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup t attempted to pass a 2016 Peterbilt driven by Scott E. Zabriskie, 46, of Bushkill and struck it. He was cited for careless driving. Police said the pickup truck was towed from the scene while the Peterbilt sustained minor damages.

• Steven B. Haring, 35, of Brodheadsville, was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 9:08 a.m. May 21 on Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township. Police said he was treated at the scene by personnel from the West End Ambulance but was not transported to an area hospital. They said the crash occurred when a 2019 Toyota Tundra driven by Mesa Kheav, 38, of Nazareth, turned into oncoming traffic and struck a 2018 Tesla driven by Haring head-on. Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene. Police said Kheav was cited for the crash.

• Tristan R. Fritz, 22, of Albrightsville, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 1:48 p.m. May 22 on South Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Toyota Camry that struck a 2007 Ford Freestyle driven by Miranda L. Werner, 29, of Jim Thorpe.

The Penn Forest Township Fire Company and a local towing service assisted police at the scene.
