Local Roundup: Results from May 30

Both Franklin Township Connie Mack teams posted wins on Thursday.

The senior club defeated Northern Valley, while the juniors downed Moore Township.

Jake Lewis pitched six strong innings and Franklin Township had a big fifth inning to gain a 4-1 victory over Northern Valley.

Lewis allowed just two hits and an unearned run. He walked four and struck out four.

The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a Christopher Vargos RBI single, but Franklin posted all four of its runs in the fifth to pull out the win.

Cole Dietz had a hit and knocked in two runs, while Lewis helped his cause with a hit and an RBI. Zoltan Bedocs also knocked in a run. Konner Nalesnik added the game’s only extra base hit, a double.

Vargos suffered the loss for Northern Valley despite striking out 10 in 4 1/3 innings. Jayden Christman chipped in with a hit and a run.

An outstanding pitching performance by Dominic Lawrence helped Franklin Township gain a 5-1 victory over Moore Township.

Lawrence, who also had two RBIs at the plate, tossed a three-hitter and gave up an unearned run and three walks while striking out five.

Grant Birnbaum had a hit, a run and an RBI for the winners. Brayden Ulshafer and Brock Atwood both added a hit and a run. Landon Steigerwalt chipped in with an RBI.

Northern Valley-Lower Macungie

A two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Lower Macungie secure a 7-1 win over Northern Valley.

Lower Macungie extended a 2-1 advantage with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win. Josiah Williams started the two-out surge with an RBI single before Emmit Budick’s two-run double made it 5-1. Drew McGeehan walked with the bases loaded, and a hit by pitch plated the fifth run of the inning to make it 7-1.

Northern Valley scored in the top of the sixth when Trey Sterling reached on an error and Andrew Diehl, who stole second, came around to score on the error. Nolan Fitzgerald, Nicholas Bogert, Justin Augustus and Conner Simms each had a hit.

Limeport-Berlinsville

Pleasant Valley graduate Brandon Ratti tossed six solid innings and also had a hand in the winning run as the Berlinsville Braves gained a 4-3 walk-off victory over the Limeport Dodgers.

Ratti pitched six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out eight. The former Bear earned a no decision, but helped his team gain the win by hitting a one-out double in the home seventh and scoring on a single by Rommel Perez.

Perez finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Braves (2-2). Zach Day added a pair of hits and knocked in two runs.

Brad Buzzard, a former Panther Valley standout, suffered the loss in relief but did collect two hits and an RBI for the Dodgers.
