Jim Thorpe announces 2024 HOF class

The Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame recently announced its Class of 2024.

Inductees of the 32nd JTAHS Hall of Fame include Kayley Kovac, Kevin Vitti, Joe Eichhorn Sr., Brooke Cope, Kelsey Carroll and the 2015 boys track and field team.

• Kovac, a 2018 graduate, is Jim Thorpe’s all-time (boys and girls) leading scorer with 1,884 points.

• A 2016 graduate, Vitti was named Times News Linebacker of the Year.

• Eichhorn, born in 1908, was named Shortstop of th First Half Century Sandlot Team by the Morning Call and later went on to manage the Mauch Chunk Tigers.

• The 2015 Olympians boys track and field team was the first in program history to win the Schuylkill League Division 1 title and finished with an overall record of 7-0.

• A 2017 graduate, Cope was a two-time District 11 champion at Jim Thorpe and a four–time PIAA State qualifier, placing fifth in the javelin in 2016.

• Carroll, a 2018 graduate, was named First Team All-State in Class 2A volleyball. She became the first All-State player in the history of Jim Thorpe Area High School.
