State police at Frackville
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police said a sobriety checkpoint that was scheduled to be held in West Mahanoy Township on May 17 was converted to a DUI roving detail.
It resulted in police making one arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and one arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance with an addition charge of possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), As well as four citations and 10 warnings being issued to drivers.
• A 36-year-old Minersville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) after a traffic stop police made at 11:02 p.m. May 17. They stopped him in a 2013 Volkswagen Passat for a violation of the Motor Vehicle Code in the 900 block of Valley Road, New Castle Township.
• Froilan Fabian, 38, of Shenandoah, was charged with simple assault after police were called to an incident on West Oak Street, Shenandoah.
It happened at 5:36 p.m. May 17. The other person involved is a 15-year-old girl from Shenandoah.
• A 60-year-old New Philadelphia man was involved in a theft by deception/ATM card incident that police were called to on April 27.
Police said the Valley Street resident reported between 12 a.m. April 20 and 3:29 p.m. April 27 an unknown actor used the man’s debit card without authorization to withdraw $144 from his account.
• An 18-year-old Shenandoah man was involved in a theft incident that was reported to police at 6 p.m. May 6. He told police someone entered his residence on West Coal Street, Shenandoah, and removed a safe that contained his birth certificate and Social Security card before fleeing the scene.
• Police were called to the Walmart store on Plaza Drive, Rush Township, at 2:23 p.m. May 17. The call resulted in a 66-year-old man from Easton being charged with retail theft (shoplifting).
