Second man dies from injuries in Mahoning Township crash

A second person has died from a head-on collision Friday in Mahoning Township.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office said Jason Reed, 50, of Lower Towamensing Township died at 9:32 a.m. Tuesday in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.

He was the passenger in a 2022 Subaru driven by Trevor S. Hunsicker, 36, of Kingston. Hunsicker died at 9:59 p.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

State Police at Lehighton said the crash happened at 5:54 p.m. on the 400 block of Ashtown Road.

Police said the 2022 Subaru, driven by Hunsicker, was traveling west on Ashtown Road at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle, crossing over into the path of a 2015 Ram truck.

Police said Hunsicker and Reed were ejected. Police said alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Information was not released about the occupants of the truck, Kelli Crostley, 36, of Lehighton, and Eric Crostley, 32, of Lehighton.

Mahoning Valley Fire Company, Mahoning Valley EMS, Lehighton EMS and All Points Towing assisted at the scene.

Hunsicker’s obituary appears on page 4.
