Mahoning man dies after motorcycle crash in Franklin

A Mahoning Township man has died from injuries in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in Franklin Township. The Lehigh Valley coroner’s office said Jayden David Gable, 21, of Mahoning Township was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Franklin Township police Chief Jason Doll said Gable was driving a 2021 motorcycle that was in a crash with a sport utility vehicle at 2:18 p.m. at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Interchange Road. The driver in the 2017 KIA Sportage was also injured.

“Witnesses at the scene say they believe the bike was traveling at a very high rate of speed,” Doll said. “The other vehicle was at a stop sign and attempted to pull and make a left across traffic, and before they could react, both vehicles were (basically) on top of each other.”

According to reports on the scene, the motorcycle was traveling south when the incident occurred. Franklin Township fire police had the southbound lanes shut down. The coroner’s office and Franklin Township police are investigating the incident.
