The Lehigh County Coroner said a 37-year-old Slatington man is the victim of homicide.
David Hittinger, 37, was killed at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, the coroner’s office said.
Police were searching an area on Welshtown Road, the D &L trail and in Slatington Borough Thursday, but did not release details.
The Slatington Police Department posted on its Facebook page just after 10 a.m. Thursday that police have received numerous questions regarding the activity in the area of W. Franklin and Seventh Street over the last few days.
“There is an ongoing police investigation being conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and Slatington Borough Police Departments in the area,” said Slatington Borough Police Chief Greg Winokur. “There is no threat to the community.”
The coroner did not release the location of the death or other details.
The investigation is ongoing with the Pennsylvania State Police, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force and the District Attorney’s Office.
A news conference will be held at the Lehigh County Courthouse on Friday after an autopsy is performed.
We’ll update with details as they become available.
