Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on May 9 with 26 members in attendance.

The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “If Roses Grow in Heaven.”

Four members are celebrating birthdays in May. New officers were voted in for 2024.

The Memorial Day luncheon is being planned by members. Refreshments were served and the meeting closed. Bingo and cards were played.

The group meets Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex in Coaldale. Anyone 55 or older is invited to attend.

St. Peter’s - West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn Township will include the sacrament of Holy Communion and Rite of Confirmation. Also Sunday, Sunday school will be at 10:15 a.m.; the Church Board will meet at 10:30 a.m., and Girl Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.

Graduation for the 4-year-old Preschool will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, and the Moving Up program for the 3-year-old Preschool will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The WASP Mother/Daughter Tea will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Senior graduation information is due on Wednesday. On May 23, the Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m., and the Senior Choir meets at 7 p.m.

Food Truck Festival

A Food Truck Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church on the 100 block of Pine Street in Tamaqua. The event will be held rain or shine. Canopies, tables and chairs will be set up. Cupcakes also for sale. Proceeds will benefit the upgrading of the church kitchen.

Zion Lewistown

Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley announced a new Sunday school for ages 3-8, which will be held from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Sundays in the education building.

The regular Sunday service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will share a message of joy through Jesus Christ and celebrate the Joy of Ascension Day and Pentecost at the 10:30 a.m. service at Calvary Evangelical UMC in Lewistown Valley. Special music will be provided. Attendees are asked to wear red.

There will be no Sunday evening service.

The cleanup at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle will be held May 21. Arrive at your convenience.

The 10:30 a.m. May 26 service will be a combined Calvary/Zion Community Memorial Day Service at tribute with a combined choir and cemetery service at Calvary. The Rev. Jim Williams will bring a message of history and hope.

Rush-Ryan-Delano seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on May 14 with 39 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the invocation, “Daily Blessings.”

A moment of silence was held for Edna Romanick. Three members are on the sick list. Four members are celebrating birthdays in May. The group chanced off a flower bouquet.

The picnic will be held at noon July 9 at Christ Church in Barnesville. It will be catered by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven. There will be a Chinese auction, followed by food and bingo.

A anniversary dinner will be held in two weeks. The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The next meeting will be held May 28. The group wishes everyone a safe Memorial Day.

Anyone 55 and older is invited. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Christ Church.
