An elderly woman was injured this afternoon when involved in a crash in Rush Township.

Accordig to reports on the scene, she was traveling east on Fairview Street at 12:30 p.m. when she lost control.

Her car crossed the roadway hitting a utility pole and snapping it off before coming to rest in a field.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance before being transported to a nearby trauma center.

Rush Township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway. Rush township chief of police Rick Weaver is investigating the incident.
