Route 61 is currently closed between Frackville and St. Clair due to a gas main leak. A contractor working on the Route 61 Frackville to St. Clair road construction project accidentally damaged a gas main earlier today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Workers are making repairs to the gas main.

Route 61 is estimated to remain closed past the afternoon rush hour. Traffic is being detoured on Route 209, Route 901 and Interstate 81. Motorists should expect delays and use caution driving through the area.
