Tamaqua’s Black, Lehighton’s Howland will represent state at NFHS Leadership Summit

Leah Black of Tamaqua High School and Anna Howland of Lehighton High School were among just 20 student/athletes from across Pennsylvania selected to represent the state at the annual National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Leadership Summit.

The event will be held July 22-25 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The NFHS Student Leadership Summit provides a forum for student leaders to discuss contemporary issues facing education-based athletics and activities. Through interactive discussions, these leaders will learn to promote respect, positive values, sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, and community service.

Black is a sophomore at Tamaqua High School who participates in volleyball, basketball and track and field. Howland is a junior at Lehighton who participates in field hockey and tennis, while also serving as the PA announcer for home girls basketball games.
