Cornhole, ladder ball kick off Day 1 senior activities
It was a day to meet up with old friends and make new ones during the kickoff events of the 2024 Carbon County Senior Games.
But who will capture the Commissioners’ Cup? Will it be North Carbon County, which is made up of Panther Valley, Jim Thorpe and Weatherly, or will the title stay in the South, which consists of Lehighton and Palmerton seniors? Only time will tell.
With only one day of competition complete, it’s anybody’s guess who will be this year’s top dog. The competition is close with Jim Thorpe, having 61, Panther Valley, 34 and Weatherly, 3, for a combined score of 98; while Lehighton has 75 and Palmerton, 66, for a combined score of 141.
The first-day events included cornhole toss and ladder ball.
A point system is attached to each medal. Gold represents five points; silver, three points; and bronze, one point.
Today’s events include basketball shoot and darts.
