They are the only Catholic school left in Carbon County.
Now, with an eye on increasing enrollment, St. John Neumann Regional School plans to open a preschool for the 2024-2025 school year.
School Principal Chris Heery said the preschool program will be located at the school’s Slatington campus.
Heery said the program is open to any child ages 3 to 4 years old, and added there will be a rolling enrollment.
“We want it to be a hands-on program,” Heery said. “We want to use a play-centered curriculum, so that it’s a welcoming and warm experience.”
Heery said the goal is to have between 10 to 15 children attend the preschool in the first year.
“I think that will put us in the right direction,” he said. “We currently have a staff member who has a Master’s in early childhood education.”
