Two Carbon County probation officers were treated for injuries after being bit by a dog Thursday afternoon in Mahoning Township.
Township police Chief Audie Mertz said the incident occurred at 2:27 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1700 block of Upper Nis Hollow Drive.
Mertz said two county probation officers were at the residence when they were both attacked by the dog.
He said the dog, a German shepherd, was shot by the probation officers, and that Mahoning Township Police are investigating the incident.
Mertz said both probation officers were treated for injuries.
He said Mahoning Ambulance, Lehighton Ambulance, and Carbon County detectives were all assigned to the call.
