CCTI honor society receives Legion Good Deed Award

Members of the Weatherly American Legion Auxiliary recently presented a “Good Deed Award” to the members of the Carbon Career & Technical National Technical Honor Society and their advisor, Sue Ann Gerhard.

These awards were established in 2002 by the American Legion’s national children and youth commission. Youth who earn this honor are recognized for their heroism and helpfulness.

“NTHS has been extremely active and engaged the entire school year,” said Gerhard.

Some activities the students sponsored are: Veteran’s Day Assembly, send holiday cards to the local nursing home, Toys for Tots (collected over 200 toys), and collected blankets and snacks for the residents at Heritage Hill Senior Living Center in Weatherly for Christmas, volunteered at the American Cancer Society Telethon and presented a check for $2,000.

The students also coordinated a collection for the active reserves collecting over 1,457 items.
