State police at the Lehighton barracks reported a crash at 6:43 p.m. April 18 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said Terri S. Kates, 52, of Jim Thorpe, was northbound when a deer ran into the roadway and was struck by the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. Stevie R. Kates Jr., 28, also of Jim Thorpe, was a passenger in the vehicle, which had disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said the driver was cited for driving a vehicle that had an expired registration.
