Peter Wayda, 23, of Allentown, has been hired as a full-time police officer in Walnutport. The appointment becomes effective April 19.

Wayda worked as a part-time patrolman in the borough since November of last year. He was also a member of the police department in Alburtis, Lehigh County, for the past year.

He is a 1979 gradate of Freedom High School, Bethlehem, and graduated from the Allentown Police Academy.

He and his wife, Beverly, reside in Allentown.
