Mako leads Republican ticket for 183rd

Incumbent Zach Mako held off challenger Zach Halkias in the race for Republican ballot in the primary race for the 183rd district for state representative.

According to unofficial votes, Mako has 3, 761 votes in Northampton County and has 1,455 votes in Lehigh County. Halkias, a Slatington councilman, had 730 votes in Northampton County and 1,267 in Lehigh County.

The district includes Lowhill and North Whitehall townships and Slatington Borough in Lehigh County. It also consists of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh Township and part of Moore Township, and Bath, North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.

Mako will face Democrat Joseph Lenzi in the November general election.

Lenzi was unopposed in the primary.
