Pleasant Valley Manor Inc., the Monroe County nursing home, will privatize its operations this year.
The decision was reached by the board of trustees to sell to Outcome Healthcare, after carefully considering the complex fiscal and regulatory challenges facing PVM in the post COVID Pandemic healthcare environment.
“The most significant challenge PVM has faced during the years leading up to and during the pandemic years was the ever increasing cost to operate the facility,” the release from the county said.
Costs included goods, services, staffing and many new regulatory requirements that were not fully covered by the state and federal reimbursement PVM received.
“That funding gap widened significantly with the end of COVID Pandemic financial assistance in 2023,” the county said. “As a standalone nursing home PVM has to pay for most of those cost increases since they are not covered by state, federal or insurance reimbursements,” the release said.
“The board has authorized a number of changes during the last several years to control costs, while not affecting the quality of care provided our residents. Those measures while effective were not enough to compensate for the ever increasing costs to operate.”
Outcome Healthcare is a family-owned company with a legacy of many years in the healthcare industry.
“We are excited to convey our dedication to maintaining a comfortable environment for our residents, families and staff,” the county said. “For 100 years the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home has served the citizens of Monroe County. This change will ensure that the home will continue to do so for many years to come.”
The purchase price has not been announced.
