Lansford borough council
Lansford Borough Council acted on numerous items at its regular meeting Wednesday night, including:
• Approving a special event request for Friends of the Lansford Recreation for a concerts on July 4, the Villagers, polka band, and Aug. 9, the Large Flowerheads, in Kennedy Park; and the American Fire Co. No. 1 of Lansford, for a food truck and vendor event in the unit block of East Bertsch Street on May 11.
• Paying Carbon Engineering $1,000 to complete and submit a new grant for $1.5 million for additional work on the sewer system, not covered under the $3.5 million grant obtained last year.
• Accepting the resignation of Gerard Scaran as chairman of the Civil Service Commission, and advertised to fill an open seat on the commission.
• Approving a $10,827 estimate from Radocha Excavating for repair work on the manhole east of Walnut Street, payable from the sewer transmission fee.
• Advertising for an open position on the borough zoning board.
• Approving the rental of a small excavator from Toby Krajcirik at a cost of $1,000 for five days for use to replace five sewer outlets in various locations.
• Changing the special event request form to include a tax identification number for use of borough facilities.
• Establishing a fee schedule for use of the borough parks by for-profits at a cost of $125 a day with $25 refunded, if park has been satisfactorily cleaned up after an event.
• Purchasing eight Glock pistols, holsters and ammunition for the police department at these costs: $11,998.91, guns; $9,450.84, holsters, and $2,548, ammunition.
• Adjusting a resolution for the due date of rental license application from April 30 to May 30 to give ARRO Consulting more time to work on license applications.
• Opening a fire escrow account in the amount of $78,818 for property owned by Theresa Hunsicker on Snyder Avenue.
• Approving acknowledging and honoring Polka Joe Manjack on the 50th anniversary of his polka radio program May 26 at Lakewood Ballroom.
• Approving a Greenways and Trailways grant application for electrical at Ashton Park. The borough would be responsible for 15%.
