March 13, 1979 - A big second half propels Panther Valley to a 55-37 victory over Dunmore in a PIAA Class 2A playoff contest at Martz Hall. The Panthers lead by just one point at halftime, but shoot 7-of-10 from the floor in the third quarter to open up a nine-point bulge. PV, coached by Phil Rader, hit on eight of 16 shots in the final frame to pull away for the win. Gary Barna and John Mikovich both finish with double-doubles for the winners. Barna ends with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Mikovich adds 15 points and 10 boards. The Panthers also receive 12 points from Bobby Roman.
