Route 209 reopens after Lansford crash

Carbon County Coroner Mark Smith released information about the fatal crash Saturday morning near Lansford.

Sean Maiden, 48, of Lansford was pronounced dead at 3:12 a.m. Saturday in the emergency room at St. Luke’s Carbon Campus.

Maiden was transported to the hospital following a motor vehicle crash on Route 209 in the area of Lansford Court and the Panther Valley High School.

Two people were involved in the crash just north of Lansford towards Nesquehoning.

According to reports from the scene, their vehicle entered the right berm and hit a tree. It then continued on coming to rest back on the roadway.

Two medical transport helicopters were requested to the scene but shortly after the flights were declined due to weather.

State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
