Irish bands visit the area

Irish bands, in advance of St. Patrick’s Day, will bring their brand of music from the Emerald Isle to local and regional venues over the next couple of weeks.

Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe will host The Kilmaine Saints and The Tartan Terrors, while Bethlehem’s Musikfest Café will welcome Dervish. In addition, the Musikfest Café will also host The Irish Comedy Tour, featuring both music and humor.

Among other entertainment highlights, British-Australian duo Air Supply will bring its catalog of classic love songs to Bethlehem’s Wind Creek Event Center.

• The Sensational Soul Cruisers, 8 p.m. March 8. The act, hailing from the Jersey Shore, performs classic R&B, soul, Motown and disco.

• The Kilmaine Saints, 8 p.m. March 9. The Celtic/Irish rock/punk band, formed in 2009 in Harrisburg, features Brendan Power and Jon Heller, among others.

• Mike Zito, 7:30 p.m. March 13. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, the blues-rock singer-songwriter/producer released his first solo album in 1998.

• Mystery City, 8 p.m. March 15. The classic-rock cover band, formed in 2014, includes members from Carbon County and the northeastern Pennsylvania area.

• The Tartan Terrors, 8 p.m. March 16. Ian Irmisch and late sister Ellen founded the Canadian Celtic band, blending music, comedy and dance, in 1996.

• 1964: The Tribute, 8 p.m. March 9. Formed in the early 1980s, the tribute act performs The Beatles’ pre-”Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” music.

• The Machine, 8 p.m. March 16. The tribute band, formed in 1988 and based in New York, performs the music of English rock band Pink Floyd.

• Maria Marmarou Trio, 7 p.m. March 9. Marmarou, a drummer, grew up in Kutztown and moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University. She has shared stages with musicians such as Christian McBride, Joey DeFrancesco and Tim Warfield.

• Air Supply, 8 p.m. March 17. The British-Australian pop-rock duo, formed in 1975, features Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock. Air Supply, whose hit singles include “Lost in Love” and “All Out of Love,” has 17 studio albums to its credit.

• Ministry, 7 p.m. March 20. The industrial metal band, formed in 1981 in Chicago, released its 16th studio album, “Hopium for the Masses,” earlier this month.

• Breaking Benjamin, 7 p.m. March 21. Formed in Wilkes-Barre in 1999, the rock band has six studio albums seven No. 1 rock-radio singles to its credit. Daughtry will also perform.

• The Irish Comedy Tour, 8 p.m. March 8. The show’s lineup of comedians and musicians consists of Derek Richards, Michael Malone, Damon Leibert and Derrick Keane.

• The Amish Outlaws, 7:30 p.m. March 9. The cover band, formed in 2002, includes four members born and raised in Lancaster.

• Dervish, 7:30 p.m. March 13. Formed in 1989 in Ireland, the group performs Irish traditional music. Dervish will release “The Great Irish Songbook Chapter 2” later this year.

• Emo Kids, 8 p.m. March 16. Hailing from Southern California, the band performs music by acts such as My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Blink-182.

• The Four Phantoms, 7:30 p.m. March 8. The show will feature former “Phantom of the Opera” Phantoms Brent Barrett, Ciarán Sheehan, Franc D’Ambrosio and John Cudia.

• “Pinkalicious: The Musical,” 1 and 4 p.m. March 9. An indulgence of pink cupcakes turns Pinkalicious pink in this show based on the “Pinkalicious” children’s picture-book series.

• “Funny Women of a Certain Age,” 7:30 p.m. March 16. The lineup features, among others, show creator Carole Montgomery and “America’s Got Talent” finalist Wendy Liebman.

• Dogs in a Pile, 8 p.m. March 9. The band, hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey, merges funk, jazz, and rock with psychedelia. Dogs in a Pile released debut album “Not Your Average Beagle” in 2021, with second studio set “Bloom” out in 2023.

• Brandy Clark & Hayes Carll, 8 p.m. March 15. Born in Washington, country singer Clark released her debut album in 2013, with her fourth out in 2023. She co-wrote the acclaimed 2022 musical “Shucked.“ Carll, a Texas native, released his eighth studio album in 2021.

• The Maybabies, 8 p.m. March 16. The band- performing alternative, classic and popular rock - features members of the Jim Roberti Trio and the Pocono Duo.
