Daffodil Days orders being taken until Friday

The American Cancer Society is taking preorders for its annual Daffodil Days through Friday.

Daffodils will be available in bunches for a $12 donation; limited quantities with a vase for $15, or potted mini daffodils for $12. The potted bulbs can be planted outside later for years of enjoyment.

The cancer society is also offering tulips this year. Tulips will be available in cut bunches for $14, or in a vase for $16.

Flowers can be ordered by calling 570-805-4555, by fax at 570-805-4554 by fax, or online at www.CancerTelethon.org/daffodils.

Orders can be picked up at My Brother’s Beer Barn, 341 Claremont Ave. (Route 309), Tamaqua, March 19 to March 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or at the Lehighton Outdoor Center, 123 Lehigh Drive, Lehighton, March 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Delivery is available for orders of $100 or more on March 19 and 20.

People can also donate flowers through the Gift of Hope program, in which bunches of daffodils will be delivered anonymously to patients and residents in area hospitals, treatment centers and other facilities. Donations of any amount are appreciated.

All proceeds of the fundraiser support the American Cancer Society’s mission. Some of the services provided include Hope Lodge, which provides lodging for patients and families, breast cancer support, rides to treatment and hair loss and mastectomy products.

Upcoming events include the cancer society’s annual charity basket raffle March 17 and 18 at the Tamaqua High School gymnasium, and the annual telethon is April 6 and 7 at Penn’s Peak.
