More than 27,000 PPL customers are without electricity because of high winds.

Lehigh County has more than 4,100 outages, including 252 in Slatington and 822 in Washington Township as of 9:45 p.m.

Monroe County has more than 3,500 outages, including 156 in Chestnuthill Township and 11 in Eldred Township.

In Carbon County, 237 customers are without power, including 144 in Penn Forest Township, 35 in Franklin Township, 46 in Packer Township, 11 in Kidder Township, and one in Mahoning Township.

In Schuylkill County, West Penn Township has 91 outages and Rush Township has 61 outages. In Ryan Township, 141 customers are without power.

The wind advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected.
