Monroe man faces charges of prostitution attempt with minor

A 69-year-old Bartonsville man was charged last week on six felony and two misdemeanor charges relating to an attempt he made to have sex with a minor.

Fred Stevenson was taken into custody Thursday and charged with felony counts of statutory sexual assault

trafficking in minors (two counts), criminal use of a communications facility, promoting prostitution and promoting prostitution of a minor, as well as misdemeanor counts of indecent assault on persons less than 16 years of age and corruption of minors.

The charges were brought by Detective Kim Lippincott of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office who in an affidavit of probable provided the details that led to Stevenson’s arrest.

Lippincott said she was contacted on Feb. 15 by a confidential informant, a prostitute who told the detective Stevenson frequently hires her, who related Stevenson on multiple occasions asked her to procure a minor child to “fulfill a fantasy of having sex with a mother/daughter duo.”

Lippincott said she proceeded to act as an undercover agent in the investigation that led to her and a young female meeting Stevenson at the Burger King restaurant in Stroud Township, where after discussions between Lippincott, the girl and Stevensen, he was taken into custody, advised of his Miranda rights and charged accordingly.

He was taken to Monroe County prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
