Carbon Career & Technical Institute made history for the second time on Feb. 9 by sending two female students to the 25th Annual Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association – Auto-tech competition, which was held at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem.
Seniors Angelika Gines and Savannah Klotz placed second in the competition.
Both students have been enrolled in the Auto Service and Technology program for three years working with instructor Hal Resh.
They competed against teams from the following schools: Lehigh Career & Technical Institute, Monroe Career & Technical Institute, Bethlehem Area Vo-tech School, and Berks Career & Technology Center.
As part of the competition, the teams were instructed to trouble shoot issues at multiple work stations including electrical wiring repair, brake measurement, wave form interpretation, basic electrical and engine performance/no start and information retrieval.
The students prepared for the competition for 6 weeks on a 2022 Chevy Equinox, which was chosen for the event.
