Mahoning Twp. moving to new offices
Mahoning Township plans to conduct its business next month at its new headquarters on Route 443.
It was announced at Wednesday’s board of supervisors meeting that the March 13 meeting will be held at the former Diaz building.
Township secretary Natalie Haggerty said the township received two price quotes for LED bulb upgrade in two pedestal signs and LED dusk to dawn pole light rewire, as well as to remove ballast from circuit. An additional Wifi clock is needed.
Haggerty noted that both the township and the police department have been issued occupancy permits.
She said police Chief Audie Mertz is working on acquiring quotes for two cameras, one buzzer, and an additional computer for the police department.
The former medical office on Route 443, just west of Normal Square, was purchased in July 2021 for $375,000. The two-story building and 14 acres of land was assessed at $595,000.
The Mahoning Township Police will use the lower level, and the township offices will be on the second floor.
Last month, supervisors approved a quote of $11,000 from Magnum Excavating for a new septic system at the former Diaz building at 2175 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive West.
In a related matter, the board in January approved the land lease of the Diaz property to Nev & Nise Produce Greenhouse.
In May, bids for the township’s new headquarters came in at $915,201.
