The Times News frequently runs opinion pieces by Christine Flowers. Her columns never educate, are always chock full of irrelevancies, and are usually snarky. Wednesday’s column is a perfect example. In a column about Taylor Swift, Flowers manages to belittle Swift’s songs, rips Swift for supporting the right to choose, and even drags in Greta Thunberg for an insult.

This kind of silly pontificating shows contempt for the paper’s readers. It is a sad thing when so many local papers close down, but it behooves those papers to avoid insulting their readers with drivel that passes for commentary. Surely the Times News can do better.
