Carbon County Coroner Mark Smith has released the identity of the infant who died in Nesquehoning last week.
On Feb. 8, 5-month-old Nathan Kostak of Rhume Street, Nesquehoning was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus and pronounced dead at 11 a.m.
The Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office initiated the investigation but has relinquished the case to the Carbon County Coroners Office to better provide continuity with other investigative authorities within Carbon County.
An autopsy was conducted this morning at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest site. The cause and manner of death are pending awaiting results.
This case remains open and under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police. No further information is available at this time but will be updated as information becomes available.
