The monthly Sunday morning breakfast at Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company returned Sunday, after a hiatus since 2022.
The meal has changed to a buffet dinner, but all the same food is available.
The buffet included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, ham, chipped beef, coffee and juice.
“The attendance today exceeded our expectations. I had to run out to buy more supplies,” said Kunkletown fire chief Brian Stankovich.
Around 11 a.m., they had already served an estimated 480 guests and had run out of chipped beef.
“All I can say is wow. Thank you all that came out and supported our first ever breakfast buffet. The outpouring of support doubled our expected target goal for the day. With that being said, some may have experienced longer than normal wait times and your favorite foods not available the first time around,” Stanovich posted on Facebook Sunday afternoon.
“We learned a lot today for the first time doing this and will make some modifications for next month to ease the flow and serve you better,” Stankovich added.
He thanked all the firefighters and volunteers.
Stankovich said the next breakfast will be March 3 from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
There will no breakfast in April, May and the summer months because the fire company has other fundraisers, he said. Breakfast is planned in November and December, and then January, February and March of 2025.
