The office of Carbon Children and Youth Services and members in the community banded together to make sure clients had good holiday.
A party was held at the office just before Christmas, with Lehighton Ford delivering pizza and cupcakes for the kids.
Gift cards were donated to purchase decorations and presents.
St. Mark’s in Jim Thorpe continues to support CYS children in placement and also open families by doing their yearly angel tree. Parishioners pick a child’s name from the tree, they buy gifts and then all the gifts were delivered to the office.
They also brought cookies.
CYS caseworkers Rhianna Delich and Jacqueline Henry spearheaded this project. But many CYS employees contributed to make their vision become a reality.
Nearly 40 children, plus parents and foster parents attended.
One of the caseworker’s supplied a cotton candy machine and popcorn machine.
There were numerous games, crafts, and activities for the kids to participate in and Santa was there for several hours before he made his way back to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas.
The CYS employees were dressed to impress in their holiday attire. The “most spirited” award was given to Kevin Kane.
The staff hopes to make this a yearly event.

Ready for Santa. Children had a chance to visit with the big guy before he made his way to the North Pole.
