H.L. Shulman, president of Stanwood Mills, Slatington, has announced the purchase of the property immediately west of the plant, between South Street and Ruch Alley. The property is the site of the former Harrison B. Rau Scrap Yard.

Shulman said the purchase is part of his long-standing commitment to Slatington and to the future modernization and expansion of Stanwood Mills, which, when completed, will add to the industrial base of the borough.

Stanwood Mills currently employs 103 workers and operates on three eight-hour shifts.
