A 30-year-old man from Effort is facing charges of simple harassment and strangulation after police were summoned at 7:55 p.m. Jan. 20 to a property on Hill Road, Chestnuthill Township.

The charges related to two separate incidents in which the victim in both cases is the same. She is a 27-year-old from Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Stat police at Frackville said the woman reported the man assaulted her on Dec. 11 during an argument. He was arraigned on the strangulation charge and posted bail, police said.

She also reported she was struck by the man with a broom on Jan. 20, resulting in her sustaining a laceration on the shin. He was charged with simple assault and harassment in that incident.
