State police at Schuylkill Haven - crashes

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks reported the following:

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:58 p.m. Jan. 20 on Lake Front Drive in West Brunswick Township.

Police said Jessica M. Miller, 35, of Tuscarora, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Trax southbound when she lost control of it due to slippery road conditions. The vehicle left the highway and hit a utility pole. It sustained disabling damaged and was towed from the scene.

A 12-year-old girl from Tuscarora was a passenger in the vehicle.

Police said Miller was issued a warning, cautioning her to drive at a safer speed.

• A 17-year-old girl from Orwigsburg was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:25 p.m. Jan. 7 on Berne Drive in South Manheim Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.

Police said she was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze southbound when she lost control of it due to slush in the road. The car left the right side of the road, striking a wall for a drainage culvert, and continued south over the wall before overturning.

The girl was cited for the crash and the car was towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:51 a.m. Jan 4 on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

Police said John Bucklar, 67, of Saint Clair, was driving a 2010 Subaru Forester northbound when it was suspected he fell asleep. He went off a curve in the road and the car struck a guide rail. It sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Citations were pending against the driver, police said.

• A driver and his passenger escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 2:34 p.m. Jan. 16 at the intersection of Brick Hill and Pine roads in West Brunswick Township.

Police said the driver was Ronald E. Piaskowski, 26, the driver, and Hayley T. Stokes, 25, was the passenger. Both are from Orwigsburg.

Police said Piaskowski was driving a 2009 Ford Focus southbound when it traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The car sustained disabling damages.

The driver was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Justin Rivera-Martinez, 21, of Orwigsburg, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:49 a.m. Jan. 16 on Summer Valley Road in West Brunswick Township.

Police said he was treated by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS for a minor head injury.

Police said he was driving a 1999 Jeep Wrangler east when it traveled off the roadway and struck a guide rail before spinning clockwise into the other lane of travel and coming to rest.

The Jeep sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Rivera-Martinez was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Police said a car that was parked just over the fog line on the right side of Route 61 in West Brunswick Township was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Police said witnesses told them the 2009 Nissan Murano was parked at the side for about a week and that it was struck by an unknown vehicle at about 5:30 a.m. Jan. 12.

• Damages were minor in a crash at 6:31 p.m. Jan. 13 on Route 61 in Deer Lake Borough.

Police said the driver of a 2017 Jeep Cherokee told them he bent over to pick up an empty iced tea container when he was driving northbound. The Jeep left its lane of travel and struck the driver’s side front tire of a 2022 Freightliner.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:02 p.m. Jan. 6 on Summer Valley Road in West Brunswick Township.

Police said Leonel Garciaduran, 39, of Brooklyn, New York, was operating a 2004 Acura west in inclement weather when he lost control of the vehicle. It traveled off the right shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole, coming to rest against the stub of the sheared off pole.

The car had to be towed from the scene.

• Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9:56 a.m. Jan. 13 at the intersection of routes 61 and 443 in North Manheim Township.

Cole W. Weil, 26, of Schuylkill Haven, was transported by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS to the Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg, while Laura L. Bosack, 46, of Pottsville, was treated by EMS personnel but not transported. Police said they were the drivers of the vehicles and each sustained suspected minor injuries.

Police said the mishap occurred when Weil, driving a 2017 Ford Explorer, which is a marked state police vehicle, was responding to a high priority call with its emergency lights and siren activated. They said Bosack, driving a 2022 Jeep Limited, was eastbound and proceeding through the intersection from the jug handle (all turns road) and had a green light at the time.

Police said the Explorer continued through the intersection without clearance and was struck by the Jeep. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
