January 30, 1973 - Panther Valley builds an early lead and holds off North Schuylkill for a 54-52 upset victory. The win is the 100th for Pip Rader as head coach of the Panthers. Rader uses a box-and-one defensively against the Spartans top scorer Ken Felker, and the move works to perfection as PV’s Pat McLaughlin holds him to just two first-half points. During that time, the Panthers gain a 29-17 lead. McLaughlin also scores a team-high 18 points, while Jim Trusa finishes with 10. Pete Gorka adds seven, all of them coming in the second half, as PV hangs on for the win.
