Shawnee Playhouse to hold auditions

The Shawnee Playhouse is celebrating its 45th season, and will be holding auditions for the 2024 Summer Headline and Children’s Musicals on March 16, from 2-5 p.m., and March 17, from 4-7 p.m., at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort.

This summer’s headline musicals include My Fair Lady (with performances running from June 15-July 7) and Chicago (July 19-Aug. 11).

The children’s musicals will be Kids! A Year With Frog and Toad (June 21-July 6) and Legally Blonde Junior (July 26-Aug. 10).

All lead and ensemble roles are being cast, and no roles have been precast.

Please bring a performance resume and an 8x10-inch headshot on the day of the audition.

Auditioners for My Fair Lady should prepare 32 bars of a classical musical theatre song, in the style of the musical, and should be at least 11 years of age and up.

Auditioners for Chicago should prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song, in the style of the musical, including belting pieces for the female roles, and must be at least 16 years of age and up.

Any performers cast in Chicago that are under the age of 18 must have signed parental consent to perform. It is strongly recommended that auditioners have a second musical theatre piece, in the style of the show prepared. It is also recommended that a one minute monologue be prepared. Dance callbacks will be held at a later date.

Kids! A Year with Frog and Toad will be limited to children ages of 7 to 12. Please come prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of a song from a standard musical theatre show.

Legally Blonde Junior will be restricted to children ages 13 to 18. If auditioning for this production, please come prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of a contemporary musical theater song.

Visit www.shawneeplayhouse.org for more information. Every person who is cast must be available for all of the performances listed, and for tech week. Please bring a list of any and all rehearsal and scheduling conflicts.
